Assisting in Worship

Everyone is encouraged to participate in all aspect of our worship services.  Please contact the church office and we can steer you in the right direction if you would like to participate.  View some opportunities below:

FAMILY ADVENT CANDLE

Gather your family and light one of the Advent candles during the Advent season.

USHER

The usher can be the first smiling face to welcome people into our Sanctuary.   Ushers can choose their preferred service time to usher.  Generally, if you choose to usher, you will only have to commit to one service per month if there are 4 Sundays in a given month…twice when there are 5 Sundays.  Arrive 10-15 minutes before your scheduled service and stay 10-15 minutes afterwards to clean up.  Family ushering happens once a month where your family can serve as the ushers for that service. For more information about how to become an usher or family ushering contact Brian May at 248-321-5885 / bmay000@gmail.com.

READER

Experience the joy of sharing the Good News by reading the scripture lessons for the day during worship. Please sign-up on the reader sheets in the Town Square, or call the church office to find out the available dates.  Make sure you provide your email as the church office will email you the readings the Friday before worship. ALTAR GUILD

Ministry of Altar Guild prepares our Sanctuary and Chapel each week for worship.  They prepare the altar for receiving the sacrament, they make sure all the candles are filled and properly prepared and they also assist with tidying up the pews.   Typically, an Altar Guild member serves with others on a “team” that works once every six months.  There are six teams that cover only two months of the year.  Each Altar Guild “team” has a team leader who works with their team members to create a schedule so each Sunday/Monday of their assigned month is covered.   Generally, no individual team member serves every Sunday of their assigned month.  Also, team members normally do not work alone in carrying out their duties. If you are interested in being a part of this sacred and fulfilling group, please contact the church office – we’d love to have you!

ACOLYTE OR CROSS BEARER

Both the acolyte and the cross bearer are an important part of the ministry leadership that contribute to the worship service.  Our Confirmation students will typically be the acolyte or cross bearers.  They receive required service hours for doing so.  They can sign up to acolyte and or cross bear by clicking here.  For more information on Acolyte or Cross bearing, please contact Laura Vowell.

AUDIO OR VIDEO OPERATOR

Our audio/video crew is behind the scenes, but an important part of the worship service.  Each 10:30 service is videotaped for our livestream feed.  If you are a “techy” and would like to participate in the ministry, please contact the church office.

MUSIC
